Validation

Method transparency—not a blanket accuracy claim

Evidence has boundaries.

MotionLab includes deterministic regression fixtures and documents tracking behavior, provenance, and known limitations. The current evidence does not establish universal accuracy for arbitrary recordings.

  • AI-assisted positions are labelled as estimates and remain correctable.
  • Large rotation, blur, deformation, scale change, and out-of-plane motion can require manual correction.
  • Protocol-specific use should be validated against independently digitized recordings.

Frequently asked questions

Technical questions deserve direct answers

Does MotionLab upload my videos?

No. Source media is processed on your device. Optional sync stores project JSON, which can include calibration, coordinates, measurements, and settings, but not the source video.

Is this a replacement for 3D motion capture?

No. MotionLab is a two-dimensional, video-based analysis workspace. It does not turn monocular video into validated 3D motion capture.

Can I correct automatic tracking?

Yes. Pose assistance seeds estimates; analysts can review and correct points. Low-confidence or invalid landmarks are left as gaps rather than accepted as measurements.

Which browser should I use?

Use a current desktop browser. MP4 with H.264 is the most broadly supported video choice; specific codec support depends on the browser and operating system.

Can MotionLab be used for clinical decisions?

MotionLab provides measurement and documentation tools. Suitability for a protocol, population, or decision remains the responsibility of qualified users and requires appropriate validation.
